The 7 Qualities of Hominism are common to all human beings.  For each quality, there are scientific, cultural, and personal aspects that should be explored in order to better understand yourself and humanity in general.

The Common Level

  • Energy:  
    • This is the quality of a living thing involving the methods used to acquire energy. It includes passive methods, such as photosynthesis, and active ones, such as when animals seek and consume food.
  • Regulation:
    • This is the quality of a living thing involving the methods used to maintain stability and protect itself from external influences. It includes simple methods, such as a membrane around a cell, and complex ones, such as the ability to fight to defend itself.
  • Reproduction:
    • This is the quality of a living thing involving the methods used to replicate or allow for chromosomal crossover. It includes fertilization, sex, implantation, and cell division processes such as binary fission, mitosis, and meiosis.

 

The Human Level

  • Intuition:
    • This is the quality of a human being involving physiological & cognitive systems that run automatically and discretely. It includes the subconscious and gut feeling that drive action and impulses without the need of awareness--or at least without the individual having full control.
  • Reason:
    • This is the quality of a human being involving rational thought. It includes the ability to gather & analyze information, justify, learn, teach, and apply what is learned to solve problems and improve processes.
  • Connection:
    • This is the quality of a human being involving interaction with other human beings. It includes empathy, personal and professional relationships, emotional intelligence, and social influence.

 

The Spiritual Level

  • Transcendence:
    • This is the quality of a human being involving the feeling of awe in regards to nature, science, music, the universe, and even concepts such as principles and virtue. It includes epiphanies and moments of clarity; feeling enlightened, uplifted, or like being on a higher plane; or feeling as if part of something bigger than the individual self.
